JERUSALEM
The Israeli army said Tuesday that a number of its soldiers were “lightly injured” in an exchange of fire in northern Gaza.
“Over the last hour, 3 explosive devices were detonated adjacent to IDF troops in 2 different locations in northern Gaza, violating the framework of the operational pause,” the Israeli army said in a statement on platform X.
In one of the locations, the army said, an exchange of fire also took place and a “number of soldiers were lightly injured during the incidents.”
The Israeli army was “located in positions as per the framework of the operational pause,” it added.
Earlier, Al-Qassam Brigades said that field clashes took place in northern Gaza between its fighters and the Israeli army over the violation of the humanitarian pause by the army.
Qatar announced an agreement late Monday to extend the initial four-day humanitarian pause for an additional two days, under which further prisoner exchanges will be carried out.
Israel launched a massive military campaign in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
It has since killed over 15,000 people, including 6,150 children and 4,000 women, according to health authorities in the enclave.
The official Israeli death toll stands at 1,200.
