An Israeli court on Monday slapped a Palestinian woman with a 42-month jail term for allegedly attacking a soldier, according to a Palestinian commission.
Asya Kaabaneh, 41, was arrested in April by Israeli soldiers at the Qalandia checkpoint near Ramallah for allegedly assaulting a soldier.
“The Ofer military court sentenced her to 42 months in prison,” the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a statement.
A mother of nine, Kaabaneh lives in the town of Duma in the West Bank city of Nablus.
Some 6,500 Palestinians continue to languish in Israeli detention facilities, including scores of women and hundreds of minors, according to Palestinian figures.
