RAMALLAH, Palestine
A young Palestinian man was killed and another injured in Nablus city on Thursday, in the latest Israeli attacks in the northern occupied West Bank, the Health Ministry said.
A ministry statement said that Ismail Sharfa, 18, was killed by Israeli fire near Huwara town in southern Nablus.
According to eyewitnesses, the Israeli army seized his body.
Another 18-year-old Palestinian was injured in his chest by Israeli army fire in the Askar al-Jadid refugee camp in eastern Nablus, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said.
Witnesses said Israeli forces also stormed the city of Qalqilya and numerous towns near Nablus, searching several homes during the raids.
More than 70 Palestinians have been killed and thousands displaced since the start of the Israeli onslaught in the northern West Bank in January, according to Palestinian figures.
Tension has been running high across the West Bank, where at least 939 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 others injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the Gaza war on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Health Ministry.
In July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
