One Israeli was moderately injured Wednesday in a shooting near the illegal Ariel settlement in the occupied northern West Bank, according to media reports.

Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, citing Magen David Adom, the Israeli emergency service, said the illegal settler "sustained moderate injuries after being shot near the settlement and was transported to the hospital."

The Hayom newspaper reported that "the attacker, whose identity remains unknown, fled the scene, prompting a wide-scale manhunt by Israeli security forces, including the use of a helicopter."

At least 69 Palestinians have been killed and thousands displaced in deadly Israeli raids in the northern West Bank since Jan. 21, according to Palestinian figures.

The raids came after more than 48,500 Palestinians have been killed and over 111,000 injured by a brutal Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The assault was halted by a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold Jan. 19.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
