Magal did not specify the exact location of the raid but did confirm it occurred in the northern West Bank.
For the past two weeks, the Israeli army has been conducting an extensive military offensive in the northern West Bank targeting the governorates of Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas.
On Jan. 21, Israel launched a military offensive in Jenin, targeting the city, its refugee camp, and several other towns. The onslaught later on Monday expanded to Tulkarem.
The offensive in Jenin has killed 19 Palestinians, including a child, and injured 50 others.
Three more Palestinians were killed in Tulkarem, which has been the target of a military offensive for five consecutive days.
Earlier on Thursday evening, the Israeli army carried out an airstrike on the town of Tammun in the Tubas governorate, killing 10 Palestinians, according to official Palestinian sources.
The escalation in the West Bank came after a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal took effect in Gaza on Jan. 19, following 15 months of Israel’s genocidal war that killed over 47,000 and reduced the enclave to rubble.
Reports say Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the escalation over threats from right-wing parties to bring down his government over the Gaza ceasefire, which they oppose.
Since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, at least 890 Palestinians have been killed across the occupied territory in attacks by Israeli forces and settlers.
