Israeli strike kills at least 8 people in Mount Lebanon
Strike targets residential apartment in Mount Lebanon, according to local media
ISTANBUL
At least eight people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in in Mount Lebanon province, east of Beirut early Wednesday, Lebanese media said.
Several other people were injured in the attack that targeted Dawhet Aramoun area, the state news agency NNA reported.
Damage was reported to several buildings in the area.
Israeli warplanes also staged a series of airstrikes in southern Beirut targeting the neighborhoods of Haret Hreik, Bir al-Abed, Laylaki and Ghobeiry.
Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare since the start of offensive on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023.
Nearly 3,300 people have been killed, over 14,200 injured and more than 1 million people displaced by the Israeli attacks since last October, according to Lebanese health authorities.
Israel on Oct. 1 launched a ground incursion into southern Lebanon.
