Missiles attack from southern Lebanon targets northern Israel

JERUSALEM

Eight missiles launched from southern Lebanon targeted the northern border of Israel, Israeli Channel 12 reported on Monday.

Sirens sounded in several Israeli towns near the Lebanese border in the Upper Galilee region following the attack from Lebanon.

The Israeli army responded with artillery fire, without specifying the fate of the missiles launched, the areas they landed in, or the damage they caused, it added.

There have been no comments by Palestinian resistance groups in south Lebanon or Hezbollah on the attack.

Tension has escalated along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchange of fire between Israeli forces from one hand and Hezbollah and Palestinian resistance groups since early October, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7 that has since killed at least 27,365 people and injured 66,630 others, according to Palestinian health authorities.
