Oman secures release of 14 foreigners held by Houthis in Yemen

MUSCAT, Oman

Oman has secured the release of 14 foreigners who were held in Yemen by Houthi rebels, the Omani Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The released people included nationals of UK, Myanmar, Philippines and India, said a ministry statement.

All 14 people were transferred to the capital Muscat via an Omani military plane.

Yemen has been engulfed by violence and instability since 2014, when Iran-aligned Houthi rebels captured much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.
