Palestinian killed in West Bank from rocket shrapnel following Iranian attack on Israel
37-year-old Palestinian worker reported dead in Jericho, says Palestinian Civil Defense
RAMALLAH, Palestine
A Palestinian worker from the Gaza Strip was killed on Tuesday evening as a result of falling “rockets and shrapnel” in Jericho in the eastern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Civil Defense reported in a statement about a “fatality in Jericho and material damage caused by the falling rocket and shrapnel.”
Israeli army radio claimed that the man was “killed in the Iranian missile attack,” identifying him as “Samih Asali, 37, from Jabalia. It remains unclear when he arrived in the West Bank from Gaza.”
In a related incident in Jordan, two people were injured as a result of shrapnel falling in several provinces of the kingdom following an Iranian missile attack on Israel, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
Earlier, Israel reported that Iran had launched about 200 missiles in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel had targeted Nasrallah and other Hezbollah commanders in an airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sept. 27.
Haniyeh was killed in a strike on his residence during a visit to Tehran in late July.
