Protests sweep across 56 Moroccan cities against ongoing Israeli attacks against Gaza
Demonstrators condemn war in Gaza, support South Africa's 'genocide' lawsuit
RABAT, Morocco
Protests against Israel's attacks in Gaza, which have been ongoing for more than three months, took place in 56 cities in Morocco.
According to a statement from the Foundation for Supporting the Issues of the Ummah civil society organization, demonstrations were organized at 113 locations under the slogan: "No to the displacement of Palestinians."
Protesters, condemning the war in Gaza and the international community's silence, congratulated South Africa for filing a "genocide" case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
They urged the Moroccan government to reconsider its normalization agreement with Israel.
Morocco and Israel signed a normalization deal Dec. 10, 2020, where Morocco resumed diplomatic relations with Israel in exchange for recognizing Morocco's sovereignty in Western Sahara.
