ANKARA

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is planned to visit Oman on Tuesday upon an invitation from Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Emiri Diwan said in a statement on Sunday.

Talks between the two leaders are expected to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern, the statement said.

The Omani Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Qatari leader will visit Oman for consultations on the latest regional and international developments.

Qatar and Oman have launched a joint committee in 1995 to boost bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two Gulf neighbors.

Some 23 meetings of the joint committee have since been held, according to the Omani state news agency ONA.
