Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met Tuesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who arrived in Doha one day earlier.

The two men discussed bilateral cooperation and recent political developments in the region, according to Qatar’s official news agency.

Zarif arrived in Doha on Monday for the first visit by an Iranian official since Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed diplomatic relations with Qatar in June.

The four states accuse Doha of meddling in their affairs and supporting terrorism -- allegations roundly denied by Qatar.

The four states have also presented Doha with a list of demands, including ending formal relations with Iran and closing Doha-based news broadcaster Al Jazeera.
