Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Wednesday presented outgoing Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Demirok with Qatar’s prestigious Al-Wajbah medal in recognition of the diplomat’s role in promoting bilateral cooperation, Qatar’s official press agency reported.
The Turkish diplomat was granted the honor upon the expiry of his posting in the oil-rich Gulf kingdom.
Demirok, for his part, thanked the emir for the medal and for Doha’s extensive support for his diplomatic efforts.
“Turkey-Qatar relations reached their zenith over the last four years,” the diplomat said.
These relations, he added, had had a “positive impact” on numerous fields, including the diplomatic, economic and commercial arenas.
"Everything that bears the name of Turkey enjoys a high degree of respect in Qatar," Demirok beamed.
Demirok assumed the post of Turkey’s ambassador to Qatar in October of 2013.
