Saudi Arabia grants $40 million to Palestine Authority

CAIRO

Saudi Arabia has granted $40 million to the Palestinian Authority (PA), Saudi officials said Wednesday.

The grant is intended to support the PA’s budget for February and March, according to Osama Nugali, Saudi ambassador to Egypt and the kingdom’s permanent representative at the Cairo-based Arab League.

“This contribution comes within the framework of Saudi Arabia's continued support for the Palestinian cause at the political, economic and humanitarian levels,” Nugali said.

Saudi Arabia provided Palestine with some $6 billion in financial support during the period from 2000 to 2018, according to official Saudi figures.
