Top Saudi and Lebanese officials on Thursday pushed for a “full cessation” of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
In a phone call, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri discussed developments in Lebanon and ongoing efforts to halt Israeli attacks, the ministry said.
Prince Faisal reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for Lebanon’s stability and the strengthening of its state institutions.
Berri praised the kingdom’s role and continued efforts to support Lebanon and safeguard its security and that of the region.
He also reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to the 1989 Taif Agreement and rejection of any actions that threaten Saudi Arabia, the statement added.
The call came as US President Donald Trump said Thursday that Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend a ceasefire with Hezbollah by three weeks following recent negotiations between the two sides.
