KIRKUK, Iraq
Preparations to open a Turkish visa application office in Kirkuk, a predominantly Turkmen city in northern Iraq, have been finalized, an official said Wednesday.
Peyami Yilmaz, who has been tasked with running the office, told Anadolu Agency that the office would soon be opened in a formal inauguration ceremony.
The ceremony, he added, would likely be attended by Fatih Yilmaz, Turkey’s ambassador to Iraq, and local officials from Kirkuk.
“We expect to process between 200 and 400 visa applications per day,” Yilmaz said, going on to assert that the application process would only take “a couple of minutes”.
