Turkish intelligence 'neutralizes' senior terrorist in northern Iraq
Murvet Gulsever, ringleader of women PKK terrorists, was 'neutralized' in city of Sulaymaniyah, according to security sources
ANKARA
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) "neutralized" a senior PKK terrorist in northern Iraq, security sources said Saturday.
Murvet Gulsever, codenamed Jiyan Herdem, who was in charge of the women's branch of the PKK terrorists, was "neutralized" in an operation in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
Gulsever, who joined the rural ranks of the terrorist group in 1992 and had close relations with PKK ringleaders, was included on the MIT target list.
Turkish authorities use the term “neutralize” to imply that the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
PKK terrorists often hide out in northern Iraq to plot cross-border attacks in Türkiye.
In its 40-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, infants, and the elderly.
