A Turkish soldier has been martyred in northern Syria, the Turkish military said on Monday.

The Turkish General Staff said clashes between Turkish troops and the Daesh terrorist organization had also left four soldiers wounded.

Earlier on Monday, the military said at least 30 Daesh terrorists were “neutralized” in northern Syria in the last 24 hours as part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield.

Turkish authorities use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered, were captured or killed.

Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to tighten border security, eliminate terror threats along Turkey's borders and support opposition forces in Syria.
