Turkish stock exchange up 2.8% at close
Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 240 points at Wednesday’s close
ISTANBUL
The Turkish benchmark stock index closed at 8,862.32 points on Wednesday, up 2.83% from the previous day's close.
The BIST 100 index began the day at 8,647.94 points and earned 243.75 points by the end of trading.
During the course of the day, the index saw a low of 8,586.90 points and a high of 8,915.87 points.
Of the indexes, 88 rose in value, while 12 declined by the close of trading.
The total transaction volume for the day reached 98 billion Turkish liras ($2.86 billion), with the overall market capitalization of the index at 7.7 trillion liras ($224.8 billion).
As of 7.15 p.m. (1615GMT), the USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.2145, the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.7610, and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.0615.
Additionally, the price of one ounce of gold was $2,668.86, while Brent oil was priced around $75.4 per barrel.
