US airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi-held capital killed at least eight people, including women and children, and injured several others, Houthi-run media reported Sunday.

The strikes targeted three homes in Bani al-Harith District in Sanaa, said the Al-Masirah TV channel.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) did not immediately confirm the strikes.

The US has carried out more than 1,200 airstrikes in Yemen since March 15, killing more than 225 civilians and injuring over 430, mostly women and children, according to Houthi data that excludes losses among their forces.

Last month, US President Donald Trump said that he had ordered “decisive and powerful military action” against the Houthi group and later threatened to “completely annihilate them.”

Earlier on Sunday, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a televised statement that the group launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel’s Nevatim Air Base, stating that the operation “achieved its objective successfully.”

The Israeli army announced that its air defense systems intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace, triggering sirens in several areas.

It marked the second time in 24 hours that the Houthis said they struck the Nevatim Airbase.

On Saturday morning, the group announced that it had fired a hypersonic ballistic missile at the same site, also claiming a successful hit.

The Houthis have targeted ships passing through the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where more than 52,000 people have been killed in Israel's brutal assault since October 2023.

The group halted attacks when a ceasefire in Gaza was declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas but resumed them after Israel renewed airstrikes on the enclave last month.
