A worldwide server failure on Friday disrupted the operations of hospitals, health services, banks, and flights in Israel.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said “a widespread worldwide malfunction in computer servers affected hospitals and other health services in Israel.”

It noted that “this is not a cyber attack but a malfunction in one of the software that led to the downfall of servers and computers.”

The Health Ministry added that it is working with a global company to quickly deal with the problem.

The daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that “public hospitals across Israel, including Sheba, Rambam, and Laniado, are grappling with a major computer malfunction Friday morning, which is believed to be part of a global issue.”

It added that the global outage impacted the operations of 15 hospitals and healthcare centers.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Airports Authority stated that it was not directly impacted by the global disruption, and operations at Ben Gurion Airport are proceeding as usual.

However, the daily also said foreign airlines have reported delays in take-offs and landings.

It noted that “disruptions were recorded in banking activity following the global technical disruption.”

The daily added that some banks are not allowing customers to access their accounts via smartphone applications, and at certain banks, withdrawing money from ATMs is not possible -- only verifying the connection between ATMs and bank accounts is available.
