LIMA, PERU - MARCH 6: Firefighters continue to battle a fire that has been active for four days, causing numerous casualties and economic losses, in Lima, Peru, 6 March 2025. A large fire continues to affect homes and buildings in the city centre. More than 49 firefighting units are working tirelessly to control the flames, but face challenges due to water shortages and the presence of numerous informal camps in the area. Four buildings have been reported destroyed and several apartment complexes damaged, leaving more than 80 families homeless. Those affected have been moved to temporary shelters set up a few blocks away from the site of the fire. Officials say the fire could spread until Sunday 9 March if it is not contained in time.
