The most active volcanoes in the Philippines have given warning of an impending "hazardous" eruption, forcing the evacuation of more than 13,000 families who lived between six and seven kilometers from the heart of the permanent danger zone surrounding Mr. Mayon. Three German hikers who disregarded warnings and wandered too close to the volcano's summit in 2013 were among the five hikers who perished when it erupted.
