KABUL
Three Taliban members were killed on Tuesday after mounting a suicide attack in the Afghan capital Kabul.
Kabul Police Chief Ayub Salangi announced that Afghan police strived to prevent the attack by firing at the assailants who made their way through to the Afghan Presidential Residence in an SUV carrying a false ISAF document.
The three assailants in the vehicle died after the attack, with no casualties from the security forces.
Residents told hearing at least 10 separate blasts prior to the attack.
The area targeted by the attack is also close to the Ministry of Defense and United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Office.
Taliban claimed the responsibility of the suicide attack.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai is due to hold a press conference on Tuesday morning regarding the peace process planned to be set off between the Kabul government and Taliban. The attack prior to the meeting raised again the question whether Taliban is really in favour of a peace.
