Joint UN and Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi's tenure was extended till the end of 2013.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Spokesperson for the UN Secretariat General, Martin Nesirky stated that news reports arguing Brahimi's tenure was extended for an additional six months were not correct.
"Brahimi's tenure was extended until the end of 2013," Nesirky underlined.
On an explosion in Syria on Thursday, Nesirky described the explosion as "terrifying".
At least 53 Syrians were killed in the explosion in Damascus.
