Ethiopia's plan to construct the disputed "Renaissance Dam" on the Blue Nile, a reach of the Nile River, led to busy diplomacy traffic in the countries within the Nile Basin.

Kenyan Deputy Minister of Water and Irrigation John Rao and the Chad Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mohammad Ali Abdollah held talks on Wednesday in the Egyptian capital Cairo to discuss the mutual problems over the Nile.

Rao's meeting with Egyptian officials focused on Ethiopia's dam project and the possible effects of the said construction on the sharing of Nile waters, told diplomatic sources.

Despite little information on the meeting of Chad Minister Abdollah, who passed on to Egypt after talks in Ethiopia, with his Egyptian counterpart, the aim of his visit was reported as Chad's possible role of mediation in the dam crisis between Egypt and Ethiopia.

Besides, Chief of Egyptian Intelligence Rafaat Shehata went to Sudanese capital Khartoum with a delegation of high level security officials.

Shehata is to discuss with Sudanese officials the bilateral security issues as well as Ethiopia's dam project.

"Renaissance Dam" is supposed to be the top topic on the agenda of Thursday's meeting of the Arab League Ministers of Water and Irrigation to be held in Egypt.
