The Tora prison complex in capital Cairo is now bringing face two face key figures of two ousted regimes.

Muslim Brotherhood deputy supreme leader Khairat El-Shatter, a key player in the ousted regime of Mohammad Morsi even though he had no official post, is being kept just a few meters from the head of the regime his group helped bring down.

Shatter, who was arrested late last night, is held in a cell 300m away from where toppled President Hosni Mubarak is kept at the Tora prison hospital, a judicial source told the Anadolu Agency.

Mubarak is being held on trial for killing protesters during the 2011 January revolution that toppled his regime. The former president is also facing corruption charges.

His trial was adjourned today until August 17.

Shatter is facing charges of inciting violence against protesters demanding the ouster of Morsi, a fellow Muslim Brotherhood leader.

Saad el-Katatni, the head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and a former parliament speaker, and MB deputy leader Rashad Bayoumi were earlier held in Tora.

Firebrand Salafist leader and former presidential hopeful Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, who was arrested Friday, is currently held in Tora.

Morsi, Egypt's first democratically elected president, was removed by the army on Wednesday after mass protests against his regime.

Several MB and FJP leaders have since been rounded up by security forces on charges of inciting violence, which has claimed 90 lives since last Sunday.
