BERLIN
The Green Party in Germany is preparing itself for opposition since German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU) and Social Democrats (SPD) are likely to form new government, Greens’ co-chair Cem Ozdemir has said.
Greens are not expecting any new talk with Merkel, Ozdemir told German daily Die Welt, adding that talks with Merkel has failed since two parties could not agree on the content of the talks. “We have a huge differences over Europe and energy policy,” he said.
Cem Ozdemir also questioned Social Democrats’ motive to form a new coalition with Merkel by reminding that SDP paid a heavy price over its partnership with CDU last time.
