WASHINGTON
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will visit U.S. President Barack Obama next month, the White House confirmed on Monday.
The Iraqi leader will visit Washington D.C. on April 14 on what will be his first official trip since he became prime minister last August.
The fight against Daesh is expected to be the main topic when Obama and Abadi meet.
"The President and Prime Minister will discuss a range of issues, including continued U.S. support to Iraq to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL," said a White House statement.
Clashes between Iraqi forces and Daesh have been ongoing since June 2014 when the armed group seized Mosul and much of northern and western Iraq.
