CAIRO
At least 16 people died and 200 others were wounded when gunmen fired at a Cairo rally supporting Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi just outside of Egypt's oldest state-run educational institution, Cairo University late on Tuesday night.
Medics said, pro-Morsi supporters were mainly formed by undergraduates who got together in front of the university in the Giza Governorate where they had come under attack by the group called "Baltaji" carrying arms overnight.
Some witnesses claimed "Baltaji"s opened fire on Morsi supporters, yet on the other hand some demonstrators claimed that police forces opened fire on them by using automatic guns.
Anadolu Agency reporter has seen security forces left the area while the clashes continued.
