ANKARA (AA) - One of the two suspects of the Boston Marathon bombing is dead, and the other is at large.
Authorities stated on Friday that the suspects of the Boston blasts threw explosives from their car during a chase by the police in Watertown, ten kilometers from Boston. The suspects and police exchanged gunfire, and one of the suspects was critically injured and later died at a hospital, while the other escaped.
FBI official Richard DesLauriers had told a press conference on Thursday that they broadcasted photos and footage of two suspects, showing one of them wearing a light-colored cap, and the other a black cap.
Police said they were searching for the suspect who escaped, the "white-capped individual".
Police also said in a statement that the two men were suspected of killing a police officer on campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), then stealing a car at gunpoint and later releasing its driver unharmed, on Thursday.
Two bombs went off near finish line at Boston marathon which was participated by nearly 23,000 people on April 15; and three people, including an 8-year-old child, were killed and over 170 people were wounded.
