Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu urged Egypt's interim government to stop Wednesday's police assault on Egyptians immediately, saying, "the assault on civilians who have been protesting and showing their democratic reactions in a peaceful way is unacceptable."
Davutoglu stressed things happening in the country did not serve democracy at all and called the international community to show their reactions and to stop remaining silent against the assaults.
He has been in contact with his counterparts in Egypt since the very beginning of the incidents, he said on his twitter account and extended his consolation and sympathy to the families of the killed.
The attitudes of Western countries on the matter will be closely followed by the people in the region, Turkish FM said. "Those who are not acting in the correct way today cannot teach democracy in the future," he added.
