Russia expels Estonian diplomat
Russian Foreign Ministry says diplomat was declared persona non grata in response to Russian diplomat being expelled last month from Estonia
MOSCOW
In a retaliatory move, the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expelled a diplomat from neighboring Estonia.
The ministry said it summoned Estonian Charge d'affaires Jana Vanamolder and declared her persona non grata over the expulsion of a Russian diplomat from Estonia on March 19.
"Based on the principle of reciprocity, it is stated that a diplomatic employee of the Estonian Embassy in Moscow is being expelled from Russia," the ministry said.
It added that the small Baltic nation's "hostile activities" will always receive "a proper response."
