BRUSSELS
Another mosque in Sweden has been damaged in a suspected arson attack.
No one was reportedly injured in the incident which occurred at 3:15 a.m. local time Monday night in the southern town of Eslov, according to police.
This is the third reported attack on a mosque in Sweden since Dec. 25 when a blaze was started at a mosque in the southeast town of Eskilstuna, injuring five people.
Officers from the Swedish Security Service have launched an investigation into the arson attack.
On the night of Dec.25, only a few meters away from the first arson attack, another mosque in Eskilstuna was attacked when an unidentified man broke a window, police told Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet on Dec. 26.
Expo, a Swedish foundation raising awareness on racism and xenophobia, said at least 12 attacks have taken place on mosques across the country this year. This means that there was at least an average of one attack per month on a mosque across Sweden from January to December, according to Expo’s figures.
