Senior Hamas member Mousa Abu Marzook told Anadolu Agency on Friday that tensions between Hamas and Iran are exaggerated.
He said that the nuclear agreement between Iran and the West will not affect Iran's stance towards the Palestinian issue.
Abu Marzook said that the tensions between Hamas and Iran are unnecessary, and have been exaggerated by regional media.
The senior Hamas member said that after the nuclear agreement, Iran will be an important player in regional events.
This is especially the case with regards to priorities fighting terrorism in Iraq and Syria, which is line with America’s regional agenda, he said.
He was curious as to how the nuclear agreement will affect Iran’s stance towards the Palestinian issue, predicting that it will make Iran America’s main partner in the region.
Iranian TV channels and newspapers attacked Khaled Meshaal, head of Hamas' political bureau, for his visit to Saudi Arabia last July, which caused discomfort in Tehran.
Hamas stated that these Iranian accusations aim to obscure the results of Meshaal’s successful visit to the Kingdom.
Hamas has had strong relations with Iran over the years, but the Palestinian group’s support of the Syrian revolution against the Iran-backed Assad regime has strained relations.
