At least 64 people were killed on Tuesday in several cities across Syria in heavy weapon attacks by Syrian regime forces, activists said.
Assad forces killed 15 people in the suburbs of Syrian capital Damascus, 12 in Idlib, 9 in Hama, 8 in Homs, 7 in Raqqa, 5 each in Dera'a and Aleppo, 2 in Deir ez-Zor and 1 in Quneitra in air and land offensives, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), a London-based group which tracks civilian and dissident casualties.
5 children, 4 women and 22 members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) were among the dead, with many people injured and tens of houses destroyed in rocket attacks by the regime forces, said the SNHR.
Moreover, a war plane was taken down by FSA troops in the village of Hurya, west of Hama, the Syrian Local Coordination Committee (LCC) claimed in a statement.
FSA troops seized control of the Air Defence Unit near the 66th Brigade in Hama, and occasional clashes took place between Assad forces and FSA troops, LCC said.
Meanwhile, Assad regime forces mounted mortar and rocket attacks on the Douma, Harasta, Jobar, Berze, Yermouk and Daraa'a suburbs of Damascus, and heavy clashes took place between Assad forces and armed dissidents.
