
ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party candidate has been elected mayor of the central Konya province, according to unofficial results on Sunday.
Ugur Ibrahim Altay bagged 644,926 votes, while opposition Good (IYI) Party received 177,392 votes.
Earlier, millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
