US fully supports Ukraine’s unity: PM Yatsenyuk

KIEV, Ukraine

The US Congress, President Barack Obama and the American people are giving huge support to Ukraine in protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, said Ukrainian acting Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Friday.

During his press conference in Kiev, Yatsenyuk evaluated his meeting with US President Barack Obama on March 13 at the White House.

He said that Russia was refusing to talk on any solution plans on the current crisis in Ukraine, while Kiev resumed talks with NATO and US for military and technical assistance.

“Increasing the number of troops and military vehicles in Crimea and on Ukrainian borders is the only thing Russia is doing at the moment,” Yatsenyuk said.

Emphasizing that cooperation terms with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is not easy to achieve, the PM stated that Ukraine still resumed talks with the IMF. Yatsenyuk also added that the government budget of Ukraine is "completely empty and looted."

“We have already begun austerity policies in Ukraine, we have sold thousands of official vehicles, discharged many executives and reduced the government's spending,” stated Yatsenyuk. The Ukrainian government, which came to power after the parliament last month ousted former President Viktor Yanukovych, announced earlier that they would sell around 500,000 official cars.

Yatsenyuk said that an investment council would be established in order to enhance business potential in Ukraine. He added that officials from US Department of Commerce would come to Ukraine in order find ways to increase the trade volume between the two countries.
