18 settlements in region became targets for Russian attacks, says Zaporizhzhia governor
ISTANBUL
At least three were killed and five others injured due to Russian strikes in southeastern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours.
“The Russian Federation took the lives of three innocent residents of the region, another five were injured as a result of enemy attacks. The victims receive all necessary medical assistance,” Zaporizhzhia Governor Yuriy Malashko said in a statement on Telegram early Sunday.
Malashko said the cities of Zaporizhzhia, Orikhiv and Huliaipole as well as 15 other settlements were the targets of 56 Russian strikes, consisting of missile, air, drone and artillery attacks.
“Over the course of a day, several dozen objects were destroyed or damaged: apartments, houses, farm buildings, but over time, all this can be restored and rebuilt. The main thing in this war is to save the lives of Ukrainians,” Malashko added.
Now in its second year, Russia's war has so far killed 8,451 civilians and wounded 14,156 others in Ukraine, according to the latest UN figures.
