EU ramps up weapons production for Ukraine
EU foreign policy chief reiterates strong support for Ukraine in meeting with defense minister

ATHENS
The EU is boosting weapons production for Ukraine, the bloc’s foreign policy chief said on Friday.
"We know Ukraine’s defence needs, and the EU is ramping up weapons production to speed up deliveries," Kaja Kallas said on X following her meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
"Europe stands with Ukraine and its brave resistance against the brutal Russian aggressor," she added.
Kallas’ remarks came a day after the EU Council's special summit on European defense and Ukraine.
At the meeting, all member states except Hungary backed a statement supporting Ukraine.
"Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its repercussions for European and global security in a changing environment constitute an existential challenge for the EU," reads the document, pledging that the bloc will intensify and accelerate its support for Ukraine as the US pulls military and intelligence support.
The entire bloc also agreed to boost defense spending.
“Today, Europe took important steps to invest more in defence and speed up weapons production and deliveries,” Kallas posted Thursday night. “The moment is now. Ukraine must get what it needs to defend itself.”
