ISTANBUL

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on an unannounced visit, Ukrainian parliament member Oleksiy Goncharenko said.

Pictures shared on social media show Stoltenberg paying tribute to fallen Ukrainian soldiers on St. Michael's Square in central Kyiv.

The visit is Stoltenberg's first to the country since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February last year.
