Ukraine said on Tuesday that four people were killed and 16 others injured in overnight Russian attacks, but did not specify which regions were targeted.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement on Telegram that four people were killed and 16 injured in the missile attack. “The rescue operation continues at the sites of hits and falls of debris in the regions of Ukraine, which were under Russian attack last night," he said, without naming the region targeted by Russian forces.

He added that Russia used drones, ballistic and cruise missiles to attack over 91 targets, and vowed to retaliate.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed in a statement that its forces carried out "a group strike" on critical objects of Ukraine's airfield infrastructure on Monday night, employing high-precision long-range air-based weapons such as Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones.

The ministry also said that the Russian Tsentr (Center) forces had taken control of the Orlivka settlement in the eastern Donetsk region.

"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 640 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 30,564 drones, 575 air defense systems, 17,586 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,425 multiple rocket launchers, 13,690 field artillery and mortars, 25,262 special military vehicles have been destroyed," it said.

The clashes between Russian and Ukrainian troops have escalated, particularly after Kyiv allowed troops to enter the Kursk region on the night of August 5 and 6, which Moscow claimed was orchestrated by the West, led by the US.

Earlier on Monday, Ukraine said Russian airstrikes targeting the country's energy infrastructure had killed at least five people and injured 30 in 15 regions.

Later, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it carried out an attack in the morning on "critical energy infrastructure facilities that support the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex."

"All designated targets were hit," the ministry said in a statement.
