A Chinese company has launched its full-size intelligent humanoid robot powered by AI, according to the English language newspaper, Global Times.

Shenzhen-based startup Dobot in southern Guangdong Province, began Tuesday to accept pre-sale orders for the Dobot Atom.

The robot which is designed for dexterous manipulation and straight-leg walking is priced at 199,000 yuan ($27,512) pre-sale.

Dobot Atom stands 1.53 meters (5 feet) tall, weighs 62 kilograms (136 pounds) and features a 1:1 biomimetic arm structure with 41 degrees of freedom across its body.

It is capable of performing household tasks such as making breakfast, pouring milk, arranging fruit plates, toasting bread, carrying boxes or placing a lid on a coffee cup, according to a video last week by Dobot.

Dobot has partnered with domestic car manufacturers, electronics factories and coffee and tea shops, with trial production and mass production expected to commence by mid-year.

The Midea Group, a leading Chinese home appliance company, also unveiled its humanoid robot prototype on Tuesday, which can shake hands, serve water, form heart gestures, dance, open bottle caps and drive screws.

"The launch of these humanoid robots signals that China's related products are rapidly entering an early stage of mass production," said Global Times, citing an industry expert.
