Chinese tech giant Alibaba introduces new version of Qwen 2.5 AI model
Company claims it surpasses highly acclaimed DeepSeek's V3

ISTANBUL
Chinese tech giant Alibaba has launched its highly anticipated Qwen 2.5 AI model, claiming it outperforms DeepSeek-V3.
"The rise of DeepSeek V3 has sparked a wave of interest in large-scale MoE models, but our Qwen 2.5-Max has already surpassed expectations," the company said in a statement.
It said the new model not only competes with the best in the field, but outperforms DeepSeek-V3 in benchmark tests that measure how well AI models understand and respond to complex instructions.
The recent releases of DeepSeek's AI assistant, powered by the DeepSeek-V3 model, as well as its R1 model, led to a significant drop in tech shares in Silicon Valley on Monday.
DeepSeek says its chatbot has surpassed OpenAI's ChatGPT in App Store downloads, boasting that its model was trained at a significantly lower cost while achieving comparable – and in some areas, superior – results.
