ISTANBUL

Turkish appliances maker Arcelik started a two-year project to produce homegrown chips with the chipmaker YongaTek.

Arcelik said on Friday that the preliminary test processes have been completed on the homegrown semiconductor project since its inception in April.

The updates on the homegrown chip was announced at the presentation of the High Technology Incentive Program (HIT-30) by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The CEOs of Arcelik and YongaTek were each rewarded a certificate for contributing to the development of Türkiye’s industry and technology at the event.

With the financing provided by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Arcelik’s upcoming homegrown chips will be used in the appliances maker’s household appliances and other electronic kitchen items.

The first prototype chips are planned to be produced by 2025.

The HIT-30, launched on Friday, is the largest-scale incentive program in Türkiye’s history launched, prepared to make the country a focal point for high-tech investments.
