Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has been sacked after the team's embarrassing 3-0 defeat against Fulham.
A statement after the match late Thursday read: "Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect."
“We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future,” a club spokesman said.
The former Liverpool captain replaced Dean Smith at Villa Park in November 2021. His first management job was at Rangers, guiding the club to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021.
The 42-year-old led Villa with 13 wins, 8 draws and 19 losses in 40 matches during his 11 months in charge.
