Basketball club Crvena Zvezda signs 2-year extension with head coach Sfairopoulos

ISTANBUL

Serbian basketball club Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade on Monday confirmed a two-year extension with head coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos.

"BC Crvena zvezda Meridianbet is proud and delighted to announce that our head coach,@GSfairopoulos has extended his contract with the Club for an additional two years!" the side said in a statement.

"This decision reaffirms our commitment to long-term success, as Coach Sfairopoulos continues to lead our team with passion, dedication, and a winning mentality. We look forward to achieving even greater heights together in the seasons ahead!" it added.

Sfairopoulos, 57, first joined the Serbian club in 2023 on a two-year contract.

The Greek tactician has Zvezda in sixth place in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings with an 11-8 record.

He guided Olympiacos to two EuroLeague runner-up finishes. In his debut season, the Reds advanced to the 2015 championship game but were defeated by hosts Real Madrid. Likewise, they reached the 2018 final, only to fall to Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
