Bayern Munich were held to a 1-1 draw in an away match Friday by RB Leipzig as the German Bundesliga returned to action after the World Cup break.
In the 37th minute, Bayern Munich took the lead at Leipzig's Red Bull Arena.
Cameroonian forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his seventh Bundesliga goal of the season when he finished from close range after a cross from Serge Gnabry.
RB Leipzig leveled the match in the 52nd minute when Marcel Halstenberg performed a close-range finish after Hungarian teammate Dominik Szoboszlai nodded the ball to find Halstenberg.
The game ended with both teams sharing the points.
Meanwhile, Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer made his first appearance for Bayern Munich.
Sommer left Borussia Monchengladbach on Thursday for Bayern Munich.
League leaders Bayern Munich have 35 points in 16 matches.
Title contenders RB Leipzig are third with 29 points, one point behind Freiburg.
Bayern Munich missed a chance to extend their lead on top of the league. Second-place Freiburg, who are in a dream season in Germany, will visit Wolfsburg on Saturday, who are seventh in the league table.
