Benfica defeated a 10-man Porto team 1-0 on Friday in the seventh week of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Fabio Cardoso received a straight red card after bringing down David Neres in the 19th minute at Estadio da Luz.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock before Angel Di Maria made a close-range finish in the 68th minute as the match ended at Benfica's home ground.

Benfica are atop of the table with 18 points and Porto are third with 16 points after seven matches.
