Benfica's summer signing Kerem Akturkoglu, a Turkish winger, was named Tuesday the forward of the month for September and October in the Portuguese top-tier football league.

"Akturkoglu, from Benfica, was named Forward of the Month of the Liga Betclic 2024/25 in September/October. The Turkish international received the majority of votes from the league's head coaches," the Lisbon-based club said in a statement.

Akturkoglu, who was signed from Turkish giants Galatasaray in September, has been productive with his new club as the 26-year-old left winger scored five goals and had two assists in Benfica's four victories in the Portuguese league during two months.

Akturkoglu started all four matches in September and October to help Benfica beat Santa Clara, Boavista, Gil Vicente and Rio Ave.

Portuguese league's record holders, Benfica, are in the third spot with 22 points in nine matches. Benfica's city rivals, Sporting Lisbon, are leading the league as they won all of their 10 matches and have 30 points.​​​​​​​
